Lynette and James are two children's illustrators living by the sea in colourful Brixham, Devon in the UK. They are the couple behind the 'Flossy and Jim' business and also the creators of the 'Horace and Co' book series.
The 'Flossy and Jim mission' is to help young people feel positive and supported in life using bright, bold and colourful designs with comical and on-trend slogans that their audience can relate to. Flossy and Jim is design-led and the illustrators can provide new illustrations quickly and efficiently in an ever-evolving
trend-driven world.
The company was founded in May 2013, and has since built an extensive portfolio of work, featuring in Heat magazine, Warehouse, Accessorize and MTV with app illustrations. The Flossy and Jim designs have also been licensed for use on confectionary, a lock screen app, computer games, giftware, children's books, magazines, digital stickers and emojis. The designs are also available on clothing selling worldwide online via Amazon, eBay, Walmart and now also in Sears.
The 'Horace & Co' book series features a gang of friends that have been created to help children learn important life skills.
The books follow the Early Years Foundation Stage educational guidelines to support each child’s developmental pathway.
The Horace & Co story book collection includes – Horace the Disgusted Hamster, Custard the Wibbly-Wobbly Dinosaur, Where are you Mr Blue? and Rock Monster’s Birthday Party. The series is selling via Waterstones, WHSmith, Amazon, and independent book shops. The books are also available to read as AR at Bookful.
Lynette and James also present workshops in schools, talking to pupils about their own personal journeys; encouraging and inspiring them to believe in themselves. Commissioned by the ‘National Collaborative Outreach Programme’ and also part of the government coalition for ‘Future. Now’ they help young and often disadvantaged people to understand the importance of self-care and looking after their mental health, and also about working hard, self-discipline, resilience and looking at practical ways that they can build their futures.
